VOLUNTEER NEEDS

Volunteers are the life blood of the clinic. Volunteers are active in all aspects of the clinic. The best way to be involved is to volunteer your services. We are recruiting volunteers for the following: 


  • Provider: Must be a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant licensed in the State of Tennessee.
  • Exam Room Nurse: Must be a RN, LPN, or Certified Medical Assistant licensed in the State of Tennessee. Must be proficient working with electronic medical record (training will be provided). Volunteer nurses perform initial data entry, serve as scribe to the provider if requested, remain in the exam room with the provider during the complete patient visit, and assist the provider as needed. Provide patient education as applicable
  • Patient Translator (immediate need for Spanish support)!!!
  • Front desk reception: The volunteer checks patients in as they arrive and notifies the triage volunteer that the patient is here. Promptly answers phone calls, takes messages as directed by the Volunteer Coordinator and/or Clinic Manager, and triages calls and delivers messages promptly. Requires a friendly and welcoming demeanor
  • Lab Tech/Phlebotomist: The volunteer should be a Certified lab tech or have Certification in phlebotomy.
  • Outreach / PR: Be an ambassador and help increase awareness of VIM's programs and services in the community!
  • Patient Financial Eligibility / Renewal Screening: The volunteer should be able to assess the applicant’s documentation to ensure that the applicant is financially eligible for care in our clinic. The volunteer is responsible for presenting forms for signature and explaining our clinic processes.
  • Scanning: The volunteer should be able to scan all paper documents into the electronic medical record as instructed. 
  • Special Events / Fundraising: Be an active part of one or two of VIM's annual fundraising community events -- Golf for Good tournament and For the Good charity luncheon.
  • Triage / clinic greeter: Should be a Certified Medical Assistant, RN, or LPN, medical student or Pre-med student. The volunteer will be expected to take vital signs, complete initial information on form provided for each patient, and room the patient. 
  • Volunteer office: Special projects on site at the clinic.
  • X-Ray Tech: The volunteer must be a Registered x-ray tech and have experience working with digital x-ray equipment.
  • Board of directors and sub committees leadership service 
  • Dispensary / PRESCRIPTION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: The volunteer will work closely with our pharmacy tech to process refills with the pharmaceutical companies for our patients through our Prescription Assistance Program.  Maintain refill tracking report. Must be detail oriented.
